Why March is Nationwide Women’s History Month

Local festivities As recently once the 1970s, women’s history had been practically an unknown subject into the K-12 curriculum or in basic general public awareness. The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women initiated a “Women’s History Week” celebration for 1978 to address this situation.

The week March 8th, Global Women’s Day, ended up being opted for once the center point for the observance. The regional Women’s History Week tasks came across with enthusiastic reaction, and lots of schools prepared unique programs for Women’s History Week.
